This documentary by João Brazão on the animals at União Zoófila won the hearts of the audience at CLIT, making it the winner of the “Glad I came” Award for Best Feature.

Sandra Cóias
Natural de Lisboa, Sandra Cóias iniciou o seu percurso na moda nacional com apenas 14 anos, mas teve sempre o cinema como outra das suas paixões, estreando-se na televisão em 1997, na telenovela A Grande Aposta.
A este trabalho, outros de relevo se seguiram, nomeadamente a série Processo dos Távora, Alves dos Reis, Pai à Força, Morangos com Açúcar, Médico de Família, Super Pai, Um Estranho em Casa, Deixa-me Amar, Casos da Vida, entre outros.
No cinema, assumiu dezenas de papéis em obras dos maiores realizadores nacionais e em projectos internacionais (Brasil e Estados Unidos), tais como Inferno, Maria e as Outras, Tiro no Escuro, Second Life, Dores e Amores, A Teia de Gelo e We Used to Know Each Other.
Recebeu a distinção de carreira Prémio Augusta – Manoel de Oliveira, do Bragacine, entre outros galardões colectivos.
Paralelamente ao trabalho como actriz, tem estado ligada à causa animal, ambiental e humanitária, colaborando activamente com instituições e ONG como a Sea Shepherd ou a WWF, e foi convidada pelo Canal Odisseia para a série documental Years of Living Dangerously, sobre a consciencialização para as alterações climáticas, onde surge como representante portuguesa.
Dá também o rosto por várias campanhas e iniciativas, sendo Embaixadora do projecto “Uma Árvore pela Floresta”, da Quercus, embaixadora da Earth Water em Portugal, Embaixadora da Boa Vontade para a Conservação da Natureza – EFAO, Embaixadora da campanha “Abandono de Animais é Crime”, Embaixadora da campanha “Adopte um Lince Ibérico”, da WWF, Embaixadora do projecto Roots & Shoots (Jane Goodall) da SPEH, Embaixadora no projecto de reflorestação no Parque Nacional da Peneda-Gerês e Embaixadora da Campanha para salvar o Centro de Recuperação do Lobo Ibérico.
Oradora em eventos nacionais e internacionais sobre alimentação vegetariana e defesa animal, abraçou o mundo empresarial com a criação de duas colecções de sapatos vegan e do guia “Páginas Verdes”, sendo ainda autora do livro As minhas receitas para um dia-a-dia mais saudável.
Sempre com espírito aventureiro, representou Portugal pela 1.ª vez no Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles em Marrocos, e na caravana de ajuda médica e humanitária do mesmo.
Por todo este percurso artístico e cívico, um festival de cinema e cidadania como o CLIT não podia deixar de a homenagear.
Born in Lisbon, Sandra Cóias began her career in fashion at the age of 14, but she always had cinema as another of her passions, making her television debut in 1997, at the soap opera A Grande Aposta.
Other important works followed, namely the series Processo dos Távora, Alves dos Reis, Pai à Força, Morangos com Açúcar, Médico de Família, Super Pai, Um Estranho em Casa, Deixa-me Amar, Casos da Vida, among others.
In cinema, she has taken on dozens of roles in movies by the greatest Portuguese directors and in international projects (Brazil and USA), such as Inferno, Maria and the Others, A Shot in the Dark, Second Life, Dores e Amores, A Teia de Gelo and We Used to Know Each Other.
She received the career distinction Prémio Augusta – Manoel de Oliveira, from Bragacine, among other collective awards.
In parallel to her work as an actress, she has been active in the animal, environmental and humanitarian causes, actively collaborating with institutions and NGOs such as Sea Shepherd or WWF. She was invited by Canal Odisseia for the documentary series Years of Living Dangerously, raising awareness for climate change, where she appears as a representative of Portugal.
She also appears in various campaigns and initiatives, as an Ambassador for the project “A Tree for the Forest”, by Quercus, Ambassador of Earth Water in Portugal, Good Will Ambassador for Nature Conservation – EFAO, Ambassador of the campaign “Abandoning Animals is a Crime”, Ambassador of the WWF campaign “Adopt an Iberian Lynx”, Ambassador of the Roots & Shoots project (Jane Goodall) by SPEH, Ambassador in the reforestation project at the Peneda-Gerês National Park, and Ambassador of the Campaign to save the Iberian Wolf Recovery Center.
Speaker at national and international events on vegetarian food and animal protection, she embraced the business world with the creation of two collections of vegan shoes and the guide “Páginas Verdes”, being also the author of the book As minhas receitas para um dia-a-dia mais saudável.
Always with an adventurous spirit, she represented Portugal for the 1st time at the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles in Morocco, and in its medical and humanitarian aid caravan.
Given her artistic career and actions as a citizen, a film and citizenship festival like CLIT couldn’t miss the chance to award Sandra Cóias.
